Synthetic Turf Maintenance
Caring for synthetic grass isn't hard if you do regular upkeep. Unlike natural turf, synthetic turf requires less maintenance. This guide covers the essential steps to keep your synthetic grass in good condition for its lifespan.
General Care Instructions:
1. Clean the surface regularly.
2. Avoid placing heavy machinery or loads on the synthetic turf, especially when it's wet.
3. Promptly address any small repairs
Please avoid the following on the surface:
1. Do not place glass, metal, or ceramics on your turf.
2. Do not smoke or use fire pits.
3. Please keep your footwear clean and free from mud.
4. Refrain from chewing gum.
SPILLS AND STAINS: Synthetic grass resists stains, but it's only part of the system. Quick clean-up reduces effort. For basic spills and stains, use a mild solution of a neutral soap, like dishwashing liquid. Examples of cleanable spills/stains are: coffee/tea, juice/soft drinks, watercolor paints, milk/ice cream, sauces/condiments, food coloring. Tougher spills and stains require a specific sythetic grass cleaning product, we recommend Urban Turf Solutions Artificial Grass Cleaner.
Disclaimer—Do not use chlorine-based bleaches or caustic detergents on your surface as this will cause discoloration.
WEEDING: Weeds may sometimes grow in the synthetic grass. Non-invasive weeds like dandelions can be pulled out from the roots. Some weeds, like nut grass, can be more difficult to remove and may require a weed spray. Consult your garden supplier for the right product. Before using any weed spray, it's recommended to test it on a small section of the grass 24-48 hours beforehand to make sure it won't damage the grass.
BRUSHING: Keeping your synthetic grass looking fresh can simply involve giving it a gentle brush. Areas with more foot traffic may need more frequent brushing. Use a sturdy broom and brush against the direction the grass lays, which will help redistribute the sand and straighten the fibers.
RE_SANDING: Re-sanding is necessary when the sand in your pile has shifted. If water flows through your grass, the sand may move and gather in low areas, creating patches of sand. Flat spaces typically don't need re-sanding as much as sloped areas. You can either hire a professional or use a firm-bristled broom for re-sanding. To determine how much sand is needed for your synthetic turf type, please consult the product specification sheet from Urban Turf Solutions.
PETS: Urban Turf Solutions synthetic turf is pet-friendly. Whilst you may want pets to stay off your installation, dog walkers are very common in most urban areas. Encourage owners to pick up after their pets. Where a particular area is used frequently we suggest hosing the area down and, if necessary, using an artificial grass cleaner every few months to minimize odors.
